If you don’t know where you are going….

“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.”  –Lewis Carroll.

Never before have I so strongly believed that this is true.  As we wait to embark on our journey to Nepal, my mom, dad and I are filled with excitement, anticipation and anxiety.  What we have set out to do is simple: help the Nepali people.  But how are we going to do this?  Hard work, good luck and opportunity.  Fingers crossed that we are blessed with all three.  Nevertheless, we know that we will find a way, because we have no other option.  What can we, just a few Americans, do for the women and children in the Lamjung Valley?    We hope that we can lower the mortality rate of pregnant women and children under five years old.  We hope that seemingly simple measures, like using sterile instruments and identifying signs of distress can eliminate preventable deaths.  This is our goal.  I just pray every day that we will find a way to accomplish it.

First stop: Hong Kong
